Teachers, please pay attention!

In order to be well prepared for your visit at the museum you can download a handout for teachers, curriculum correlation, worksheets (only available in German) and a teacher’s kit by the UNESCO/UNCCD as PDF files for non-commercial usage only.

School classes and other groups that travel with the DB (German Railways) get a discount of up to 70% on the normal ticket price, if they book early (14 days in advance). Information is available at all the DB travel centres, DB ticket offices and DB agencies.

Information for teachers

The exhibition centre Lokschuppen is an external education facility. We would like to invite classes from all kinds of age-groups and all kinds of school systems to the state exhibition “The Desert”.
We offer guided tours congenial to each age-group as well as workshops, in which the students can get involved creatively and playfully with different exhibition topics.
Guided tours for school classes and kindergartens take approximately 45 to 50 minutes, workshops approx. 60 minutes. Please take into consideration about 15 minutes delay at cashier and wardrobe before your reserved guided tour or workshop, so that the program can start on time. For a guided tour followed by a workshop, you will need 2,5 hours in total.
For school classes there are special storage places for schoolbags and jackets provided.
Your entrance tickets are valid for the whole day. Therefore you have the option of revisiting the exhibition rooms with your class after the program.
Food and drinks, that have been brought along, can be consumed in our “relaxation-tent” at the entrance area outside the Lokschuppen.
All school programs come with free entrance for 2 attendants. Additional attendants get a reduced price.

Cancellations:

Arranged programs can be cancelled at the latest one working day before the event. For cancellations on the day of the event, or in the case of the group not having arrived 30 minutes after the appointed time, the whole fee has to be paid.
